Dava D. Kauffman has 27 years of public service as an employee of the Newport News Commissioner of the Revenue. She has been serving as Chief Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue since 2012.
Dava is a Master Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue from the Weldon Cooper Center at the University of Virginia. She is a 2015 graduate of LEAD Peninsula of the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of the Newport News Leadership Development Academy.
Dava's direct experience managing the Commissioner’s two office locations responsible for the annual assessment of in excess of $145 million in local tax revenue and the administration of 23 different taxes and nearly 20 responsibilities qualifies her for this vital and accountable position.
Dava is a member of the Commissioners of the Revenue Association of Virginia, Virginia Association of Locally Elected Officers, Virginia Association of Assessing Officers, International Association of Assessing Officers, National Bureau of Revenue and Regulatory Officials, and the Virginia Association of Local Tax Auditors.
Dava is a member of the Newport News Rotary Club. Dava and her husband Cliff, with their daughter Logan, attend Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
